Welcome

Dear Jackman Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Jackman Elementary School for the start of the 2009-2010 school year. We are an Effective school that prides itself in providing a safe learning environment for our children where they can grow academically and socially to become life long learners.

Parental support and involvement is essential to the success of our students. We encourage parents, staff, students, and the community to work together to insure that all students are successful. We promote parent volunteers. If you are available to volunteer at school, please contact the school office or the classroom teacher for more information about opportunities.

We have many programs, field trips, and activities scheduled throughout the year to enrich the students. Jackman has a wide variety of technology services such as Smart Boards and sound systems in every classroom, a computer lab and laptop computers available for the students and teachers. We also provide ongoing intervention for students to reach their needs.

Our behavior expectation at Jackman is "PAWS to make a difference." Pride, Attitude, Work Habits, and Self Control are our foundation. We believe that by fostering these factors, students will be motivated to make positive choices that increase their academic performance and enhance the overall atmosphere of the learning environment.

When dropping off and picking up students, you must use the supervised loop located behind the school. This is the safest means of dismissal for our students.

The safety of your child is extremely important to the staff at Jackman. All visitors to the building MUST sign in at the office and wear a visitor's badge. Parents may walk their children to the classroom during the first week of school. To foster independence and reduce the amount of traffic in our building, we ask that after the first week of school you refrain from going to the classrooms unless you have been announced through the office.

It is my belief that through a collaborative effort, Jackman will make a positive difference in the future of our children. Feel free to contact the school office if you should have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to another great year!

Principal
